ABOUT ME

I’m Lauren Kuell, a visual artist based in Durham, North Carolina. As a lifelong North Carolinian, my love for this place naturally finds its way into my work.

My art explores wonder—the moment of discovery, the quiet beauty of a stream in the woods, and the joy of seeing the world with fresh eyes. In recent years, my paintings have been shaped by watching my three daughters leap, climb, and uncover the world around them, reminding me that wonder is often found in the ordinary.

I work primarily in acrylic paint, oil pastel, and string art. Each medium brings a sense of movement to my work. In my string pieces, lines stretch between nails, capturing energy and tension as if the image is still becoming. Across all of my work, I hope to preserve fleeting moments of curiosity and invite others to pause long enough to notice the beauty that surrounds them.
